I fell in love with the breed when my mom bought Sheba for protection because our house kept getting broken into. Then when I became an adult and got my first house in 1986, I bought Max, an AKC GSD! After he passed, I was having a lot of strange and unwanted encounters with men when I decided that I needed a personal protection dog. The plan was to breed Frisco and make one. As I learned more about the breed, I found that Frisco did not have the working line pedigree needed to produce this type of dog. So, I bred my American show line dogs, Frisco, Sabrina, and Midnight until I met someone who changed my life forever!
He was a K9 trainer and brought Buford into my life! Buford was an amazing 2-year-old working line dog who had been training to be a police K9 when his handler needed to give him up because of a personal issue with his family.
Buford taught me a lot about working with working line dogs and we continued his training for my PPD! He was truly my heart, he wasn't the cuddly type, but we had an amazing connection that I still miss to this day!
Pongo was bred in Hungary, trained, and sent to Afghanistan to work. He was quickly sent to the US because he didn't want to hurt anyone! So, he was used for breeding here, a total cuddle bug, slept on the bed, and taught my 10-year-old daughter how to do bite work! He was an amazing dog!! ZZ was quite stunning but very civil in her personality, the trainer would not train her because she truly wanted to hurt him! She should have been the military dog! So, her job was to make puppies and protect my husband when he went to work growing mushrooms. He loved her to pieces!
Critter is the only one left right now. Astra just got adopted by a family who purchased one of her pups last year! Finley is still going strong but retired 5 years ago and living in Avondale with her human. Zep and I used to go over for play dates, and sometimes Zep would go for the weekend and get to go to the human's mountain house!
Now that I lost Zep recently to a heart tumor, I have decided to retire from breeding. It was a difficult decision, and I had just purchased Critter to be the next mommy. She is just hanging out with me and loves her job!
Pongo training Hannah!
Buford showing off his skills, bite the bad man!
